Get this song out of my head

Not too long ago, my husband was wandering around the house singing “Build Me Up Buttercup”. He asked me if I ever had an earworm - those songs that just get stuck in your head on a loop. This was the first time I had ever heard that word.

But it won’t be the last. The wonderful Danny Felsenfeld is putting together something called The Earworm Project. He’s soliciting both music and funds (more on that below) to compose a piece around songs that get stuck in your head. To learn more, visit Felsenworm. I’ll be submitting “Don’t Rain on My Parade”.

What I find really amazing about this is the collaborative element, both creatively and financially. Perhaps other composers do this, but I have never seen it. If I give money to Danny, I will now have a stake in his composition. I’ll be more motivated to talk about it, and I’ll definitely be watching its progression. If I give money AND a song, I’ll be waiting like crazy to see if it makes the final project. Right there is buzz - that wonderful intangible that I am fascinated by. I now become a part of this project, and I have a stake in its success.

So check this out and see if you want to give a song or give cash. You too can become an impresario for $5!
